Health Advisory Issued Against Bathing At 13 Nassau County Beaches
MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork)-- Due to heavy rainfall, the Nassau County Department of Health has issued an advisory against bathing at 13 North Shore beaches.
This advisory, effective Saturday, was issued as a precautionary measure for beaches impacted by storm water runoff caused by heavy rainfall.
Storm water runoff can impact bathing water quality by elevating bacteria levels, which may cause exceedances of the New York State standard for bathing water quality, Nassau County officials said in a press release.
The advisory is issued for the following:
Centre Island Sound – Bayville
Creek Club – Lattingtown
Lattingtown Beach – Lattingtown
Laurel Hollow Beach – Laurel Hollow
North Hempstead Beach Park – Port Washington
Piping Rock Beach Club – Locust Valley
Pryibil Beach – Glen Cove
Ransom Beach – Bayville
Theodore Roosevelt Beach – Oyster Bay
Sea Cliff Village Beach – Sea Cliff
Soundside Beach – Bayville
Stehli Beach – Bayville
Tappen Beach – Glenwood Landing
In addition, Morgan Beach in Glen Cove remains closed due to elevated bacterial levels.
