11-Year-Old Girl In Critical Condition After 2-Car Crash On LI Road

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- An 11-year old girl is in critical condition after being flung from a car involved in a two-car crash with  a fire department chief vehicle on a Long Island road Sunday morning.

Iris Hernandez, of Bay Shore, was driving northbound on Wheeler Road in Hauppauge when she crashed head-on into a Hauppauge Fire Department chief vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, police said.

Her daughter, Ismeily Perdomo-Hernandez, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition after being ejected from the vehicle. Hernandez' son Inmer Perdomo-Hernandez, 9, and sister Cindy Hernandez, 29, were also treated for non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Hernandez told Suffolk County Police that she had lost control of the vehicle.

The accident occurred at around 11:17 a.m. Sunday morning.
