Nearly 2 Dozen Firefighters Hurt Battling Fire In Harlem
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Nearly two dozen firefighters were injured after responding to a fire in Harlem on Saturday.
Flames were shooting out of the windows of the building on West 115th Street.
The FDNY said the fire started on the first floor around 7:30 a.m. and spread to the second floors.
The fire was under control around 10:15 a.m.
Jeremy House, with the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, released the following statement:
"We will continue to do everything possible to help the families impacted by this unfortunate event. HPD is facilitating emergency shelter and will support residents until the necessary repairs are made for the tenants to return home."
Twenty-one firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
