Cat Survives 28-Mile Ride From PA To NJ Stuck Inside Pickup Truck Engine

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A young cat took the ride of its life Thursday after crawling into the engine compartment of a pickup truck.

Just before 7:30 a.m., Hackettstown police were called to the Mars Chocolate North America parking lot on a report of a cat stuck inside the engine of an employee's Toyota pickup.

When officers arrived, they found an orange and white cat in the fan blades of the vehicle, police said.

It appeared that the cat climbed into the engine at the employee's home in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania and survived the 30 minute, 28-mile ride to Mars Chocolate in Hackettstown, police said.

With the help of the Hackettstown Department of Public Works and Mars Chocolate employees, the cat was freed.

The frenzied feline took off running, but was quickly caught again by police. It appeared to be unharmed and was turned over to animal control.
