TSA: Brooklyn Man Found With Loaded Gun At JFK Airport

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A man with a loaded pistol in his carry-on bag was stopped before he boarded a plane at John F. Kennedy International Airport, the Transportation Security Administration said.

The incident took place last Friday.

The man's identity has not been released, but the TSA said he is a Brooklyn resident.

He had a loaded, six shot .25 caliber pistol hidden in a shoe box among his carry-on items when he arrived at a security checkpoint, the TSA said.

The man told the agent he didn't know the gun was in the box.

The man was arrested on weapons charges.

Firearms and ammunition are not allowed in carry-on bags. Firearms can be transported in checked luggage if they are unloaded, packed in a hard-sided case, locked and packed separately from ammunition.
