Police: Guatemalan Immigrant Attacked In Farmingdale

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police are searching the streets of Farmingdale, looking for three people who beat a Guatemalan immigrant unconscious in what they say is a hate crime.

Police said the 42-year-old victim was riding his bicycle home around midnight on Granny Road on Tuesday when three men stopped in a pick-up truck and began kicking the victim before driving away.

The victim suffered bruises to his face, arm and leg, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.

Suffolk County Police said he filed a police report the next day. They said it appears the man's ethnicity prompted the violent attack.

Detectives said anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-8477. All calls are kept confidential.
