Group Of LI Jewish High School Students Greeted By Pope

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A group of Jewish high school students from Long Island got a special meeting with Pope Francis.

As CBS2 reported, the pope personally greeted the group on Ash Wednesday after junior ambassadors from the Temple Israel of Lawrence traveled to Rome in an act of international solidarity in the wake of anti-Semitism and threats against Jews from terrorists.

"He brought everyone together and made us feel really welcome, it was a really great experience" Jaclyn Chizner said.

"He was very nice, he came up to each of us individually and shook our hand," Bradley Perlzweig said.

The group returned to John F. Kennedy Airport Friday.
