Closures To Hit GWB For Repairs, Gran Fondo Bicycle Race

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Commuters, expect another weekend of potential traffic headache if you're planning on traveling over the George Washington Bridge.

According to the Port Authority, the eastbound lane on lower level of the George Washington Bridge will be shut down from 10 p.m. Friday night to 8 a.m. Saturday morning.

The entire lower level (both eastbound and westbound lanes) of the bridge will close from 11:59 p.m. on Saturday to 10 a.m. on Sunday to accommodate for the Gran Fondo NY Bicycle race.

Next week, the eastbound lower level is scheduled be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday-Thursday as part on ongoing construction efforts.

Traffic will be limited to the eastbound upper-level lanes throughout the closures.
