Kids Catch Man Spray Painting Graffiti On North Bellmore School, Police Say

NORTH BELLMORE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A North Bellmore man was arrested after a group of kids spotted him spray painting graffiti on a school, police said.

The kids saw Jacob Guzman, 18, vandalizing the Newbridge Road School on Friday around 3:15 p.m., police said.

When officers arrived, they found graffiti with the words "f*** the police," "flushing" and others, police said. They also found discarded spray paint cans.

Police said the officers head a security alarm sounding in the school's facilities building, and found that the door had been kicked in.

Guzman was inside.

In his possession were several sets of keys belonging to the school, a jewelry pin belonging to an employee and a small amount of marijuana, police said.

The investigation led police to believe that Guzman was behind numerous other graffiti incidents in the area.

He was charged with burglary, criminal mischief and unlawful possession of marijuana.
