Gov. Christie Fires Back After Being Questioned Why He Won't Visit Border

SEA BRIGHT, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says there's a clear distinction between him and the president.

"The president has his responsibilities, I have mine," he said in Sea Bright Thursday evening.

As WCBS 880's Jim Smith reported, Christie continued to hammer away at President Obama for not visiting the border during what he calls "the recent crisis."

But when Christie was asked why he, a potential 2016 candidate, won't visit the border on his upcoming trip to Mexico, the governor fired back.

"I'm not going to the border. What would I do exactly at the border? Like you know bring troops with me? I mean come on, this is silliness," he said.

Christie says he'll be on an economic mission, while he says it's Obama who should be at the border to see what's going on to "take steps as president,"
