Girl, 8, Struck And Killed By Vehicle In Flatbush-Ditmas Park, Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An 8-year-old girl was struck and killed by a vehicle in Wednesday in Flatbush-Ditmas Park, Brooklyn.

The accident happened around 5 p.m. in front of 460 East 22nd St. in Brooklyn, at Ditmas Avenue, police said.

Responding officers found the girl lying on the ground with severe head trauma, police said. She was taken to Kings County Hospital Center, where she was pronounced dead.

She was identified as Jadann Williams, police said.

Police said the driver of a Toyota sport-utility vehicle was headed south on East 22nd Street when he struck the girl as she was crossing the street, police said.

"Totally said, especially I'm a mother too. I know how the mother feels," Paulette told 1010 WINS' Roger Stern.

The driver remained at the scene, police said.

The NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad was investigating.
