Giants Waive Running Back Michael Cox

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — The New York Giants have waived running back Michael Cox.

The Giants announced the move on Monday, just three days before the NFL draft.

Cox played two seasons with the Giants, missing the final two months of last season after breaking a leg against Seattle on Nov. 9. A seventh-round draft choice, the 25-year-old saw limited action in 18 games, rushing for 76 yards and catching five passes. His biggest contribution was as a kickoff returner, averaging 22.5 yards.

The Giants signed running back Shane Vereen as a free agent in the offseason and have Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams returning this season.
