LISTEN: Victor Cruz Tells WFAN His Return To Field Was 'A Dream Come True'

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- The first chapter of Victor Cruz's comeback story was written Sunday.

The Giants star not only played in his first regular season game in nearly two years, he caught a touchdown pass in the 20-19 win at Dallas.

"It felt great," Cruz told WFAN's Mike Francesa on Tuesday. "There's literally no words that I could say that could describe how I feel. Just to be in that moment, to overcome so much and to have that touchdown mean so much to our team, it was a dream come true."

Cruz missed last season with a calf injury and had his 2014 season cut short by a torn patellar tendon in his right knee. He also battled a groin injury in training camp this year.

But the Pro Bowler said he never doubted he would return to the field.

"I put my best foot forward in this rehab process," he said. "I made sure I was diligent with anything and everything I had to do to get myself back to a hundred percent and be able to get back on the field and make an impact."

Cruz caught all four of his targets Sunday for 31 yards and a 3-yard TD from Eli Manning in the fourth quarter. The wide receiver, however, stopped short of declaring that he was completely back to his old form.

"I think I'm still building," he said. "Obviously we look at the film and see areas that we can get better, and that's the main thing that I'm focused on each and every week is getting better. But I definitely think that we set a good foundation. I feel the quickness. I feel like I'm as fast as I was. I just want to continue to build on what we set."
