Giants Running Back David Wilson Medically Cleared; 'The Story Continues'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Giants running back David Wilson has received medical clearance after undergoing a CT scan on Monday morning.

The former first-round pick tweeted the news.

The 23-year-old had a nightmarish season in 2013. After appearing in every game in 2012, the Virginia Tech product suffered spinal stenosis in Week 5 against the Eagles. He was subsequently placed on season-ending injured reserve.

On January 16, the 5-foot-9, 205-pound speedster underwent neck surgery.

The starting running back at the beginning of last season, Wilson didn't exactly light the world on fire before getting hurt. In five games he rushed for 146 yards on 44 carries (3.3 yards per carry). He rushed for one score and fumbled twice.

"All in due time with David," Giants head coach Tom Coughlin told the team's official website in April. "Just pray, you're praying that he has a return to excellent health and that the doctors are totally convinced that he is recovered and ready to go. When that time comes, you'll have another contributor who, if he gets a step, he's gone."

In addition to Wilson, the other running backs on Big Blue's current roster include Michael Cox, Kendall Gaskins, Peyton Hillis, Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams.
