Police Save Man About To Jump Off George Washington Bridge

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police saved a man who was about to leap off the George Washington Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

WCBS 880's Kelly Waldron reported the 32-year-old Manhattan man was sitting on the railing, dangling his feet over the side of the bridge when Port Authority Police Officers Vincent Zappulla, Ed Berdeccia and Mark Kopcynski responded to the call around 12:15 p.m.

A struggle ensued after the officers converged on the man, but they were able to wrestle him to the walkway of the bridge.

Police were able to get him under control and he was transferred to Bergen Regional Medical Center in Paramus, New Jersey, for evaluation.
