Geography Questions Take Back Seat On NYC Yellow Cab Exam

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Questions about local geography are taking a back seat on the exam drivers must take to operate a New York City yellow cab.

The Taxi and Limousine Commission said GPS technology has a lot to do with the change.

Spokesman Allan Fromberg calls the change a "practical modernization" of the test and a "catching up to the times," according to The New York Times,

Only 10 geography questions remain. They have to do with navigating the city with a map.

The new exam can now cover more safety issues, the TLC said.
