Geese Take Over Part Of White Plains High School Parking Lot

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A couple of geese have taken over a portion of a parking lot at White Plains High School.

Following spring break, a honking, hissing, flapping gander started swooping down and chasing people in the lot near the school's auditorium, WCBS 880's Sean Adams reported.

The Canada goose is protecting his spouse, who is nesting atop a storage garage.

Principal Ellen Doherty is respecting the territorial claim and has cordoned off the area with yellow tape.

"Our science teachers are talking about it. Our journalism class has been writing articles about it," Doherty said. "It's really been a lot of fun."

After the goslings hatch, wildlife officials will safely relocate the family.
