Woman Killed In Crash After Car Leaves Garden State Parkway

CRANFORD, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A woman driving on the Garden State Parkway in central New Jersey was killed when her car left the highway for an unknown reason, New Jersey state police said.

The accident occurred shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday in Cranford.

Officials said the woman was alone in her vehicle and traveling northbound when her car crashed into a wooded area.

Authorities said it did not appear that any other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The woman's name has not been released pending notification of her relatives.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation as of midday Sunday.
