Fundraiser To Benefit Kids Of Jersey City Couple Killed In Virginia Campground Tornado

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A fundraiser is being held Tuesday to benefit the children of a Jersey City couple who were killed last week after a tornado tore through a campground in Virginia.

The Jersey City Youth Foundation will donate 50 percent of its proceeds from the event to the children of Lord Balatbat and Lolibeth Ortega.

The couple was at the Cherrystone Family Camping and RV Resort with their children when the twister hit the campground last Thursday, toppling a tree onto their tent.

Balatbat and Ortega were killed. All three of their children, two daughters ages 7 and 12 and a son, age 13, were hospitalized. Their son is in critical condition.

The family had visited the same campground every summer for the past several years.

Tuesday's fundraiser will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Zeppelin Hall Restaurant.
