Freight Train Hits Pickup Truck On Tracks In Bergen County; 1 Injured

DUMONT, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A freight train struck a vehicle on the tracks in Bergen County early Sunday morning, sending a man to the hospital, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 12:45 a.m. Sunday in Dumont.

A CSX freight train hit the pickup truck on the tracks near Madison Avenue, authorities said.

The vehicle's driver, identified by The Record as Nicholas McKay, 45, underwent surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center. He will be charged with driving while under the influence, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, police told The Record.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
