Fire Breaks Out On Freight Train In Hartford

HARTFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- Authorities in Connecticut are trying to figure out what caused a freight train to catch fire Friday night.

Hartford police said three rail cars carrying construction debris and wood caught fire on the tracks. Video from the scene showed flames and smoke shooting up from the rail cars as firefighters worked to put out the blaze.

The train was headed to Massachusetts at the time.

Officials said Amtrak service was temporarily suspended as was CTfastrak buses in the area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
