Nassau County Executive Helps Launch $4 Million Revitalization Project In Freeport

FREEPORT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- The Village of Freeport and Nassau County are kicking off a nearly $4 million revitalization and beautification project.

North Main Street -- stretching from Freeport's northern border at Roosevelt to its terminus at Sunrise Highway -- will get new sidewalks, lightpoles and benches.

"We'll be installing approximately 39 new benches, 29 decorative trash receptacles, 70 new trees," Mayor Robert Kennedy added. "We're looking to make mixed use here, which would bring in some medium income housing, and we're looking to develop and bring in maybe millennials from the city."
