Francesa: 'I Don't See' Mets Making Playoffs

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Mike Francesa can't see the New York Mets making the postseason this year.

It's been a rough go for the Mets following a string of injuries to their top players, as they entered Thursday night's game a .500 team – 10 games behind the Nationals for first place in the N.L. East and 4.5 games out of a Wild Card spot.

"It has really become nightmarish," Francesa said. "It's been a tough season on so many levels, they've been hit so many different ways with things, but I think last night, to me, just finished it from my standpoint."

He continued, "Maybe the Mets are going to do this, maybe they will jump over these teams and get to the playoffs, but I'm going to tell you right now, I don't see it, and the reason I don't see it is the pitching."

Francesa also talked about the "mythic figure" Yankees rookie Gary Sanchez has become in his short career.
