LISTEN: Francesa Says Phil Jackson Should Coach Knicks 'Or Get The Heck Out Of The Way'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Mike Francesa got heated when talking about Phil Jackson's role with the Knicks on Monday.

"As a general manager, what he has to do is lessen the reins. He cannot be completely in control when he is not hands on with the coach. He is not the coach anymore. He is a level removed as a coach. With that has to come some freedom for the coach," Francesa said.

Francesa said Jackson needs to pick a head coach and just get out of his way.

"Phil should either go down and try to over his physical ailments and coach the team or get the heck out of the way and hire a coach he has some respect for, if there are any of those alive, and let the man coach the team," Francesa exclaimed.

Jackson knocked down a report from the New York Daily News that Golden State Warriors assistant Luke Walton told the former NBA champion that he was not interested in coaching the Knicks.

"Press accounts of coaching actions are untrue. Nobody has been asked nobody said no," Jackson tweeted.
