Francesa: 50-50 Chance Chris Kreider Plays On Wednesday Night
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- The Rangers need some offense, and they need it now.
After scoring three goals in Game 1 against the Penguins in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Blueshirts have been shut out in consecutive games.
Now down 2-1 in the series, New York is staring at a daunting 3-1 hole if it continues to struggle to put the puck in the net.
But help could be on the way.
According to WFAN host Mike Francesa, there is a 50-50 chance that forward Chris Kreider will return to action against Pittsburgh for Game 4 on Wednesday night.
"If he's ready, he's gonna play," Francesa said on air on Tuesday afternoon. "I've heard rumblings. I don't have any confirmation, and I don't think there will be any. I would look for him tomorrow, though. I think there's a 50-50 chance he plays tomorrow. He's not being ruled out, that's for sure. I would say that. He's not being ruled out. I'm not saying he's in, and no one has told me he's in ... I think there's a chance."
Kreider underwent surgery on his left hand roughly six weeks ago. In 66 games played this season, the 23-year-old scored 17 goals and added 20 assists.
The Rangers could desperately use him on the power play, as they are 0-for-their-last-34 with the man advantage.
Game 4 will be played at Madison Square Garden, and then the series will shift back to Pittsburgh for Game 5 on Friday night.
