Former N.J. State Police Trooper Gets Probation For Falsifying Official Reports

TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A former New Jersey State Police trooper was sentenced Thursday after admitting he falsified official reports.

Glenn Mannino, of Little Silver, was sentenced to a year of probation and 50 hours of community service.

The 52-year-old pleaded guilty in February to charges he falsified audit reports of law enforcement agencies.

Mannino admitted that between October 2009 and June 2011 he fabricated reports for law enforcement agencies that he was assigned to audit.

Prosecutors said he lied about visiting the agencies and made false timekeeping entries.

The state attorney general's office said the former Acting Sgt. 1st Class is barred from future public employment.

Mannino resigned as part of a plea deal after serving nearly 27 years with the State Police.
