Former Jets Linebacker Bart Scott To Join 'The NFL Today' On CBS

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- He can't wait!

"The NFL Today" continues to get a makeover for the 2014 season.

Former Jets and Ravens linebacker Bart Scott will join the NFL pregame show for the upcoming season, CBS Sports announced on Monday.

This past season, the 2006 Pro Bowler was featured on CBS Sports Network's "That Other Pregame Show" (TOPS) as a studio analyst.

"Bart joining 'The NFL Today' is a natural progression from his outstanding work during his first season on TOPS," said CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus. "Bart brings a dynamic personality and unique perspective as a recently retired player providing strong opinions on all the hot-button issues on a weekly basis.

"We are confident he will continue to bring that perspective and those opinions to 'The NFL Today.'"

Future Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez, who retired following the season, is also joining the Sunday pregame show.

The addition of Gonzalez and the departures of Dan Marino and Shannon Sharpe were announced last week.

Scott and Gonzalez will be on set with fixtures James Brown, WFAN co-host Boomer Esiason, Bill Cowher and insider Jason La Canfora.

"Having just stepped off the playing field, Tony brings a fresh and insightful perspective," McManus said of Gonzalez last week. "As a future Hall of Famer, we are excited for him to share his knowledge, experiences and opinions with our viewers. Tony was one of the most respected and hardworking players in the NFL and a tremendous teammate.

"We look forward to him bringing these attributes to CBS Sports."

"The NFL Today" airs at noon on Sundays during the NFL season.
