Fishing Boat Goes Up In Flames On Housatonic River

CONNECTICUT (CBSNewYork) -- A 45-foot fishing boat was engulfed in a fireball Saturday on the Housatonic River in Connecticut.

A picture taken from the shore showed thick smoke that could be seen for miles, CBS 2 reported.

The boat burst into flames shortly before noon.

There were as many as four people on board at the time, CBS 2 reported.

They were rescued by people from passing boats.

Three people were taken to a nearby hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
