NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Fireworks were set off in the Hudson River Tuesday evening in celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year.

The Grucci and Barbash families of Long Island lit up the sky with a colorful display on Tuesday near the Chinese consulate, at Twelfth Avenue and 42nd Street.

The 20-minute show with three barges of fireworks was set to music.

The weeklong Lunar New Year celebration also will include a performance by the New York Philharmonic, an exhibition at the New York Historical Society and a lighting of the Empire State Building.
