Brand New Fire Truck Headed For LI Damaged In Crash On I-84

EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A brand-new fire truck making its way from Wisconsin to Long Island was damaged after crashing into a median on I-84 in New York Tuesday morning, officials said.

Glenn Bennett, 64, of Wisconsin, was driving a 2016 Seagrave pumper truck eastbound on I-84 shortly before noon when officials believe a medical emergency forced him to pull the truck off the road.

Police said Bennett pulled the truck to a shoulder in the eastbound lane. The truck struck several trees and entered the median, officials said.

Bennett was transporting the new truck from the FWD Seagrave manufacturing facility in Clintonville, Wisconsin for service at the Islip Terrace Fire District in Suffolk County, police said.

According to officials, Bennett was taken to Danbury Hopsital and is now in stable condition.
