Firefighters Rescue Baby Herons After Nest Falls In Long Beach

LONG BEACH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Two baby herons were back resting comfortably in their nests Tuesday night, after being rescued by firefighters when they fell out of a tree in Long Beach, Long Island.

The birds' nest fell out of a tree Tuesday morning, and firefighters received call to respond from Nassau County Animal Control.

Crews came in with a bucket truck and quickly got to work.

"We were able to put the nest back up in the tree. We secured it with some wires, and hopefully, the mama bird will take right back to it," said Long Beach Fire Chief Richard Corbett.

The birds did not appear to be hurt when the nest came loose.
