Fire Spreads To 3 Buildings In Bushwick, Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An extra-alarm fire ripped through an apartment building, and spread to two others, in Bushwick, Brooklyn Saturday evening.

The FDNY responded shortly after 6 p.m. to the fire in the abandoned three-story building at 1138 Bushwick Ave., near Putnam Avenue, officials told CBS 2.

The fire was quickly raised to three alarms.

The blaze spread to two other buildings and did severe damage to all of them, 1010 WINS' Gary Baumgarten reported. The building where the fire started was severely damaged.

Only one of the three buildings that caught fire was occupied.

A total of 130 firefighters responded to the blaze, and two suffered minor injuries, officials said.

A chief at the scene told Baumgarten the fire was believed to be suspicious in nature.
