Fire Rips Through Multiple Homes In Haledon, N.J.

HALEDON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- An extra-alarm fire ripped through multiple homes in Haledon, N.J. as the New Year arrived, leaving numerous families displaced.

The fire was raging in the 400 block of Morrissee Avenue in Haledon as of around midnight New Year's Day.

Haledon Mayor Domenick Stampone told CBS 2 the town has set up a temporary shelter at borough hall, and reported numerous displaced families.

At least three structures were left uninhabitable.

At least six local fire departments were involved in fighting the fire, including the City of Paterson, Stampone said.

The fire had not been brought under control as of 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
