Fire Engulfs Houses In Paterson, 68-Year-Old Church Saved

PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - A 4-alarm fire broke Wednesday morning in New Jersey, engulfing two houses and threatening a decades-old neighboring church.

Firefighters around 10 a.m. responded to 40 Hopper St. in Paterson where two buildings were on fire.

The neighboring 68-year-old Christ Temple Baptist Church at 38 Hopper St. was saved but sustained damage from the blaze, which investigators say started at the pastor's house next door before spreading.

One firefighter was treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
