Fire Destroys Truck At Port Newark

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A fire destroyed a semi-trailer truck at Port Newark Tuesday afternoon.

Around 5:20 p.m., Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police and Newark fire crews were called out for a truck fire at 142 Marsh St. in Port Newark, according to the Port Authority.

Video from Chopper 2 showed a raging fire destroying the cab of the truck, which was marked as belonging to the Port Logistical Group.

The fire was out by 5:45 p.m., the Port Authority said. No one was injured.

Port Authority police rerouted traffic when the fire was burning, and there was no disruption to port operations.

The truck was hauling an empty shipping container, the Port Authority said.
