Fire Destroys Home Under Construction In Water Mill

WATER MILL, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- About 100 firefighters battled a blaze that consumed a home under construction on Long Island.

The fire broke out at 7:12 p.m. Tuesday on Ponds Road in Water Mill and officials said the home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived at the scene.

Fire crews worked quickly to get water on the fire, but the home was a "total loss," the Southampton Fire Department said.

The fire was brought under control at about 11 p.m.

Seven fire departments responded to the scene. Two firefighters were injured, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
