Fire Breaks Out At Greenwich Street High-Rise

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A rubbish fire broke out on the fifth floor of a high-rise in Tribeca Sunday night.

The fire sent smoke into the hallways, catching residents of the Greenwich Street building off guard, CBS 2 reported.

The fire department responded quickly and started evacuating people.

"It was so dense black and your stuck there," said one tenant. "It's very scary but I kept my head on and she panicked, and the dog was running around, but we figured it out and we got out of there but yea, it was very scary."

Officials told CBS 2 everyone was able to get out of the building safely.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
