Fiat Used By Pope Francis To Appear In NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- One of the two Fiats used by Pope Francis in his visit back in September will return to the streets of New York in the St. Patrick's Day parade on Thursday.
Monsignor Robert Ritchie, the rector of St. Patrick's Cathedral, will drive the car to the cathedral where Cardinal Timothy Dolan will review it, according to the New York Archdiocese.
The Fiat will then be driven the rest of the parade route, the Archdiocese said.
After the parade, the Fiat 500 sedan will be available for bids on the auction site charitybuzz.com. The proceeds will be used to support Catholic schools in the archdiocese, Catholic Charities, Catholic Relief Services and the Catholic Near East Welfare Association, the Archdiocese said.
