FBI: 'Gatsby Bandit' Sought In Series Of Queens Bank Robberies

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The FBI is looking for a suspect dubbed the "Gatsby Bandit" in connection with series of bank robberies in Queens.

The suspect, whose nickname is derived from a Gatsby hat he often wears, is wanted in at least three banked robberies, authorities said.

The most recent incident happened on May 16 when authorities said he robbed the Astoria Federal Savings Bank on Broadway.

Authorities said he's also wanted for robbing the Santander Bank on Roosevelt Avenue on May 7 and the Investors Bank on Broadway on May 12. Authorities said he may have displaced a handgun in the May 7 incident.

The "Gatsby Bandit" is described as a white male, about 5-feet-8-inches to 5-feet-10-inches tall and approximately 45 to 50 years old.

He has gray hair, blue eyes and a skinny build. He was last seen wearing black-framed glasses, a tan Gatsby hat, a black coat and blue pants.
