NY Man Arrested In Connection To Fatal Wrong Way Collision

BEDFORD HILLS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Scarsdale man has been arrested in connection to a wrong-way crash that left a 64-year-old woman dead, according to officials.

Zachary Tokson, 23, was allegedly driving northbound in the southbound lane down Interstate I-684 in Bedford at around 5:49 a.m. Sunday morning, according to police. Tokson's vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle, driven by Elena Lopez, of Mount Kisco, police said. Tokson's vehicle was then hit again by a third car travelling on the interstate.

Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. Paula Pinheiro-Aloy, the driver of the third vehicle involved in the crash, was not injured, police said.

Tokson was arraigned Sunday on charges of Criminally Negligent Homicide, officials said. Police are still investigating whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash.

Tokson is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 16.
