One Person Found Dead In House Fire In North Massapequa

NORTH MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police say a man was found dead in a house fire in North Massapequa.

The fire broke out around 4:37 a.m. Tuesday at a home along The Link near Winding Road. 

More than 60 firefighters from multiple departments responded to the blaze. Video from the scene showed the house gutted by flames.

Police said the body of a 66-year-old man was found in the garage with a fatal gunshot wound, saying it appears to be non-criminal.

Two firefighters were also hurt while battling the fire, which appears to have started in the front of the house.

The investigation is ongoing.
