Garden State Parkway Crash Leaves 2 New York Men Dead, 2 Injured

PORT REPUBLIC, N.J. (AP) -- A single-vehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway has left two New York men dead and two others injured.

State police say the crash occurred just before 1 a.m. Saturday in a southbound lane in Atlantic County.

They say 27-year-old Brooklyn resident Darryl Thomas lost control of the vehicle, which went across the right lane and through a guardrail at milemarker 48.6 in Port Republic. The car flipped multiple times and went into the marsh.

Thomas and a passenger, 22-year-old Zachary Pearce of Jamaica, were ejected from the vehicle. They were pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Two other passengers, 22-year-old Lamarr Edwards and 31-year-old Derrell Shaw, were being treated at hospitals for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
