52-Year-Old Woman Stuck, Killed By Car In Bellmore

BELLMORE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A 52-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a car while crossing a major roadway on Long Island early Sunday morning, authorities say.

Nassau County police say the woman was crossing Sunrise Highway in Bellmore at around 1 a.m. when she was hit by a car travelling eastbound.

The woman was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

The name of the victim was not immediately known.

Police say the driver remained at the scene and is not expected to face charges.

An investigation is ongoing.
