Arrest Made After Dispute Over 25 Cents Leaves Bodega Clerk Fighting For Life

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have made an arrest after a dispute over 25 cents left a bodega worker fighting for his life.

Sources told CBS2 the worker got into an argument with a man over the cost of beer.

Abdul Almilaki, 57, was found in the back of his apartment building with a severe head injury around 3:30 Wednesday morning.

He works at the Rohan Deli where a man apparently only had $3 to buy a beer that cost $3.25.

The customer then allegedly threatened to beat up Almilaki after he wouldn't sell the beer to him.

The victim's cousin thinks he was followed home.

Almilaki sustained a fractured skull and was taken to St. John's Hospital in critical condition.

Police arrested Sherwin Benn, 32, of Queens on Thursday. He faces charges of attempted murder, robbery and assault.
