The 18-year-old Ward Melville High School student died Sunday after falling from steep bluffs in Wading River and being impaled on a tree stump.

Grimaldi's twin brother John and others with him at the time of the fall were unable to save him.

School officials released a statement expressing sadness during such a difficult time, Xirinachs reported.

The school said grief councilors were made available Tuesday to help students and teachers come to grips with the sudden tragedy.

Grimaldi was set to graduate from Ward Melville next month. He was to attend Clarkson University.
