Families Of Slain NYPD Officers Receive $1M From Anonymous Donor

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A massive donation from 8,000 miles away has been made to the families of two NYPD officers fatally shot in December.

The families of now-Detectives Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos have received $1 million to be split evenly.

The families were very emotional during the announcement at DEA headquarters.

Liu and Ramos were gunned down on Dec. 20 while sitting in their patrol car at the corner of Myrtle and Tompkins avenues. The gunman, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, took his own life shortly after the shooting.
