Tri-State Area Ready To Fall Back An Hour

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Here's a treat this Halloween weekend: an extra hour of sleep.

Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday. The time will move back one hour at 2 a.m.

Most people usually set their clocks back before heading to bed Saturday night. The shift moves one hour of daylight to the morning from the evening.

Experts say it usually takes a day or two for our bodies to get used to the time jump.

Residents of Hawaii, most of Arizona and some U.S. territories don't have to change; daylight saving time is not observed in those places.

Public safety officials say this is also a good time to make safety checks as well.

The Firemen's Association of the State of New York is urging residents to use the time change as a reminder to put a new battery in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and make sure they are in working order.
