Man, Woman Accused Of Using Fake Credit Cards At Oceanside IHOP

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Nassau County police said a man and woman tried to use bogus credit cards to make gift card purchases at an IHOP in Oceanside.

While at the IHOP on Long Beach Road, police said Anthony Ross, 30 and Nellie Gonzalez, 32, tried several times to use different credit cards to purchase six $100 gift cards. Many of the cards were declined, police said.

The transaction drew the attention of the manager, who police said became suspicious. They said the manager watched the pair leave in a vehicle with a Virginia license plate, took down the license plate number and called police.

Officers found the two in a parking lot in Island Park. Authorities said an investigation revealed Ross and Gonzalez used fraudulent re-encoded credit and debit cards to complete the purchases at the restaurant.

Officers also found 80 additional blank credit and debit cards from various financial institutions in the car, police said.

Ross and Gonzalez, both of Brooklyn, are facing numerous charges of possession of a forged instrument.
