Police: Thieves Disguised As Apple Employees Get Away With $16K In iPhones

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)--  Two thieves dressed in attire similar to Apple Store employees stole several iPhones at two stores throughout Manhattan, police said.

Police said the men stole three iPhones, worth about $1,900, from the Apple Store on West 14th Street on June 1 at around 4:20 p.m.

An hour later, they then reportedly robbed the Prince Street location in SoHo, 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reported.

Police said one thief posing as an employee went to a repair room and grabbed 19 iPhone 6 Pluses and passed some to his accomplice. Together they hid them under their shirts and walked out, according to the report. 

They got away with about $16,000 worth of devices in the second robbery.
