Fairfield Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Teen With Autism At Stratford Funeral Home

STRATFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A 74-year-old man has been accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy during a wake service at a Stratford, Conn. funeral home back in 2012.

Fairfield resident Robert J. Purcell was charged with second-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault and public indecency, according to the Connecticut Post.

Purcell, who turned himself in on Monday, was released on $100,000 bond.

According to authorities, the victim, a 15-year-old boy with autism, had been attending his grandmother's wake at Pistey Funeral Home on April 9, 2012 when the alleged assault took place in the bathroom.

Purcell was arraigned in Superior Court on charges of sexually assaulting the same boy in Purcell's home. He pleaded not guilty to first-degree sexual assault and impairing the morals of a minor.

Michael Dolan, the attorney for Purcell, said his client denies the allegations and they plan a vigorous defense.
